Large Item Collection Coming to Tavistock

It’s time to clear out the garage and basement! Oxford County’s annual Large Item Collection for East Zorra-Tavistock is scheduled for the week of May 4 – May 8, 2026.

Make sure your items are at the curb by 7:00 AM on Monday, May 4. Even though the trucks move through the township all week, they will not backtrack once they have passed your house!

✅ What you CAN set out:

  • Household furniture (tables, chairs, sofas)
  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Carpet rolls and underpadding (must be rolled, bundled, and no longer than 3 feet)
  • Water softeners (must be empty of salt/contents)
  • Pool filters (no sand) and pool covers

❌ What stays at home (Not accepted):

  • Electronics and appliances (fridges, stoves, TVs)
  • Hazardous waste (paint, oil, batteries)
  • Construction materials (drywall, renovation debris)
  • Tires and automotive parts
  • Loose glass or mirrors

Important reminders:

  • No Bag Tags Required: This special collection is free for these specific items.

  • Weight Limit: No single item can exceed 45 kg (100 lbs).

  • Placement: Place items within one metre of the curb, ensuring they are visible and not in ditches.

For a full list of what is (and isn’t) accepted, visit the Oxford County website here: https://www.oxfordcounty.ca/services-for-you/garbage-and-recycling/large-item-collection/

Happy cleaning, Tavistock! 🧹✨
